At Campfire Wild Adventures, we’re proud to hold the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge, a nationally recognized award that reflects our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality outdoor learning experiences. Alongside this, we also hold an AALA Licence, further demonstrating our dedication to the highest safety and activity standards.

Our Commitment to Safety and Quality

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We conduct thorough risk assessments tailored to each site and activity. All our instructors hold current first aid qualifications and undergo regular safeguarding training. Every team member is DBS checked, and we continuously train and develop our instructors to uphold consistent, high standards.

Holding both the LOtC Quality Badge and AALA accreditation means we meet and maintain some of the highest national standards for outdoor education providers. We actively seek feedback from schools, teachers, and students to refine our programmes and enhance the learning experience for everyone involved.

We continually review our policies, training, and programme delivery to make sure we provide the best possible outdoor learning opportunities. Our goal is to help young people develop through connection, challenge, and discovery.

Health, Safety & The Environment

  • SAFEGUARDING

    Ensuring the safety of young people staying in our camps is paramount, and we have an extensive safeguarding policy.

    All of our instructors are DBS checked, and undergo extensive selection, interviewing and training as part of their induction.

    Our Campfire team and the school staff are the only adults allowed in our Base Camp, and there are no public footpaths through our camping area.

  • SAFETY

    It’s at the heart of everything we do. We accept that bushcraft and adventure is not devoid of all risk, so we have implemented a set of systems and procedures which help us to identity, manage and mitigate.

    We use statutory guidelines as a basic foundation, and on top of these we have our own detailed safety systems. We know that off-site adventurous activities can come with a minefield of paperwork for teachers and trip co-ordinators, that’s why we have a full teacher pack which will help you to meet all of your school or local authority guidelines.

    All of the activities we run have been fully risk assessed and all activity equipment is regularly inspected, and used only for its intended purpose.

  • MEDICAL

    Our company medical advisor is available to review any complex medical information provided on Booking Forms.

    We want our camp to be accessible to people of all abilities, and will always try to accommodate the specific needs of any individual.

    We have a vehicle on standby 24hrs a day, emergency vehicles can access any part of the estate we operate in, and there are several hospitals in close proximity to our site.

  • SECURITY

    We’re also extremely fortunate that Campfire is within the stately walls of Tew Park, the private parkland at the heart of the Great Tew Estate.

    There are no public footpaths, nor any public vehicular access to our main camping area. The only vehicles permitted on site during our camps are our standby emergency vehicles.

  • ENVIRONMENT

    We love the great outdoors and do everything we can to protect it. We follow the principles of “leave no trace”, and try to keep our impact on site to an absolute minimum.

    Our tents are made of sustainable natural materials, and we work alongside the estate managers to ensure our activities don’t disrupt crops, livestock or forest management.

  • HEALTH & HYGIENE

    Unlike many bushcraft camps for young people, we provide flushing toilets and shower facilities for all camps over 72hrs.

    We believe that staying healthy on camp is essential, and we take a firm stand on maintaining excellent hygiene in camp, including food preparation and cooking.

    We also ensure all Campfire staff hold level 2 Food Hygiene Certificates before working with any food.
